Activities and Tours
There is a wealth of amazing activities and tours available at Lake Arenal and surrounding areas. If you would like us to organize something for you, let us know. We are happy to assist.
Here are a few examples of activities.
The high wind season from November through April makes Lake Arenal an ideal location for windsurfing and kite surfing. We are only 5 minutes away from the launch site. After an exhilarating day in the waves you will be tucked away from the wind in a comfortable setting in the midst of nature and wildlife in Living Forest Center. More information on wind and kite surfing at www.ticowind.com
Other activities on the lake include wake boarding, paddle boarding, fishing and boating.
The majestic and powerful volcano Arenal is one of Costa Rica’s most revered attractions. A one hour drive around the lake through idyllic small villages and gorgeous views is definitely worthwhile. The volcano was active for 43 years when dramatic effusions of smoke and lava could be seen. Now it has been in a more “resting” phase since 2010.One way to experience Volcano Arenal is from the Hanging Bridges. Not only do you get to see the volcano from close proximity, you also get magnificent views of the tropical jungle and abundant wildlife.
Because of the geothermal activity beneath volcano Arenal, there are many hot springs in the area. After strenuous yoga, a rigorous sport session, weariness from travelling or the stresses of life – what better way to relax than to let these healing waters work miracles on you! Let us know if this is something you would like to experience and we can help make it happen for you.
Zip lining/Canopy tour
Zipping through the tropical rain forest high above the tree tops seeing wild life and fantastic views of the lake and volcano on the way – this is a winner as far as exciting adventures go! We highly recommend this tour. The equipment is of the highest standards and you have a well experienced staff assisting you. This makes the tour safe and secure. We are happy to book this unforgettable experience for you.
In the Tenerio Volcano National Park flows a beautiful blue-turquoise colored river: Rio Celeste. The unusual and enchanting color has to do with a chemical reaction caused by a constant flow of minerals supplied by the volcano. Local legend says that when God painted the sky, he washed his blue brushes in this river. The hike through the jungle gives you a chance to see some wildlife on the way. The hike to an impressive waterfall is demanding but worth the trek. If you are not feeling to do the hike, there is an other location where you can have a swim in this magical blue river.
Costa Ricans are real horse people. If you happen to be here when there is a horse fiesta called Tope in town, it is definitely worthwhile to experience. Going horseback riding in beautiful country side at Lake Arenal is something many travellers enjoy. We have a great contact for you.
